Virtual Screening

« Back to Glossary Index

Virtual screening uses computational models, rather than physical lab experiments, to evaluate large libraries of compounds against biological targets. Algorithms quickly rank molecules by predicted binding or activity, so only the most promising are tested in vitro. Clinical and digital‑health readers should understand that “virtual” here means in silico simulations that can greatly reduce time and cost, but still require downstream experimental validation.
