Preclinical Candidates

Preclinical candidates are drug molecules selected for further testing in laboratory and animal studies before any human exposure. When AI platforms advertise rapid nomination of such candidates, clinicians and policymakers must understand that “preclinical” still lies far upstream of patient care, and that substantial safety, efficacy and manufacturing work remains before clinical use is realistic.
