Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs)

« Back to Glossary Index

GANs are a type of AI model where two neural networks compete to generate new, realistic data, such as novel drug molecules, from patterns learned in existing datasets. Non‑technical readers may not realise that GANs do not “understand” biology but mathematically approximate it, which affects how reliable and interpretable their outputs are in drug discovery workflows.
